The Scala
°
On the way to the Pinacoteca di Brera museum, I take a look back at the Scala.
°
Perhaps not the usual view of the front of this world famous opera house that some of you are probably familiar with, but the side view.
°
The Milanese Scala, Italian Teatro alla Scala, also known as Scala for short, is one of the most famous opera houses in the world.
°
Originally built in 1776 by Maria Theresa of Austria, the Scala was badly damaged in World War II and then rebuilt (too) quickly.
°
After several years of construction and renovation work starting in 2002 under the direction of the Swiss architect Mario Botta, the house was ceremoniously reopened in December 2004.
°
In Milan, modern and old combine in a very unique way.
°
I wish you a nice Wednesday and the rest of the week!
