The folds in the tablecloth. Vienna, February 2024
°
It’s evening in Vienna.
°
I walk back to the hotel and look at the windows and the (still) empty restaurants. I’ll take a few photos.
°
It’s still a little early for dinner, but the tables are already set.
°
In my private life, I also attach great importance to beautiful dishes, cutlery, glasses, table linen – in short: table culture.
°
The food seems to taste better on a beautifully set table and served with beautiful dishes and drinks from the glasses provided.
°
This passion for glass and porcelain perhaps comes from growing up in an area where there were and are many glass and porcelain companies.
°
Thanks to this connection since my early childhood, I also know a lot about glass and porcelain production.
°
That’s why I see the differences in quality very quickly.
°
It amuses me that the tablecloth has a few wrinkles. This lack of perfection gives this tablecloth its own personal touch.
°
It reminds me of the folds in the tablecloth of the Last Supper that Leonardo da Vinci so carefully painted.
However, these were wrinkles that were probably caused by the storage of the valuable material until it was used. But in this case it’s just creases.
