Rolling Hills. Florence. September 2024

Rolling hills. Florence. September 2024

°
For this visit to Florence, I didn’t choose a hotel directly in the city.
°
Before dinner I went down to the beautiful park of this property with its eventful history:
Stately villa, monastery and now a hotel.
°
The park at the back of the building offers wonderful views of the rolling Tuscan hills.
°
It was a wet summer with a lot of rain. The hills appear in different shades of green.
Olive trees with silvery-green leaves and tall cypresses in intense dark green rise into the sky.
°
In Germany they often plant poplars, which are reminiscent of cypresses with their similar shape.
°
I grew up in a low mountain range and we lived on a hill from which you had a wide view over the hilly landscape to the horizon.
°
It is evening and cloudy and the sun is already low and hidden behind the clouds.
°
I feel like I’m in the country, even though I know the city isn’t far away. That calms me down.
°
A wonderful peace surrounds me here. I’m enjoying the moment.
Since I’ve been in control of my schedule, time has slowed down for me.
I live more in the moment. I’m not particularly controlled and driven. The baton is mine and I set the pace.
°
This makes me enjoy the moment much stronger and more intensely.
It makes me happy. After years, I finally have what I wanted: I have control over my life.
No other people decide about me (and my schedule).
°
Ars longa vita brevis.
