Pinakoteca Ambrosiana
°
Still overwhelmed by Raphael’s cardboard, I continue my tour of the museum.
°
I enter a loggia on the upper floor that surrounds the courtyard.
°
It’s raining heavily today, but thanks to the roof I’m well protected from the rain.
My photo shows the view down into the inner courtyard.

The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana art museum is located in the Palazzo dell’ Ambrosiana, which also houses the Biblioteca Ambrosiana.
°
The facility looks back on a long history. The collection of paintings dates back to a donation from Cardinal Federico Borromeo (1564–1631), Archbishop of Milan in 1618.
°
In addition to Raphael’s cardboard from the “School of Athens”, the remarkable collection now includes important works from the 14th to 20th centuries.
°
In addition to the popular paintings by Da Vinci and Caravaggios, the collection also includes works by Sandro Botticelli, Bramantino, Francesco Hayez, Giandomenico Tiepolo and Titian.
°
Unfortunately, Caravaggio’s „Fruit basket“ is currently traveling and that alone is a reason for me to come back.
