Florence. September 2024
°
At the end of September I packed my bags again and drove alone to Florence and Milan.
It’s a great feeling to decide relatively spontaneously on a trip and just set off – over the Brenner Pass, past Lake Garda, Bologna down to Florence.
°
This time I chose a previously unknown hotel above the city, not far from Piazzale Michelangelo. This spot is a popular viewing point with wonderful views of the city, the surrounding hills and the dome of the cathedral – Brunellleschi’s miracle.
°
I walked down into the city from Piazzale Michelangelo for the first time and was surprised at how short and beautiful the walk down into the city is.
This photo was taken on the way there.
°
I usually come to Florence in January and June. It is bitterly cold in January and sometimes very hot in June. I’m always happy in June when I can quickly go to the sea again.
°
Now in September it is pleasant, although it is almost too cool to eat dinner outside in the evenings.
The light with strong contrasts is typical for autumn. There was even a brief rain shower that day.
