Myron was one of the most important sculptors in ancient Greece. The heyday of his work was between 480 and 440 BC. BC

He created numerous bronze statues. No originals of his works have survived.

The sculpture shown is a unique replica in which fragments of various fragment finds were put together and an impression was created.

This plaster cast is in the Abgussmuseum in Munich.
